Since DE || BC, using Thales' Theorem, we have

AD/BD = AE/EC

or x/(3x+4) = (x+3)/(3x+19)

Cross multiplying,

(3x+19)x = (x+3)(3x+4)

or 3x²+19x = 3x²+13x+12

or 6x =12

or x=2.

Therefore, x=2 is the solution.
