Answer: Computer is known as data processor because it processes the data.

First the data is inserted in the computer through input devices. After that, computer translate the data in its own language and then the computer takes action according to the instructions given to the computer. After processing, the data sent back to the user through output devices of computer such as monitor.

There are two sections of CPU.

1) Arithmetic logic unit (ALU): It performs arithmetic operations.

2) Control unit (CU): Its function is to take instructions that is present inside the memory and translate that instructions and then take the action accordingly.

Computer is known as data processor because it processes the data.

  • Because it transforms unprocessed data, such as tables and figures, into processed data, or information, which is useful, a computer is referred to as a data processor.
  • Manipulating, storing, accessing, and transmitting are all included in processing. The processes involved in transforming data into information that can be used by one person or a large number of people.
  • A computer is an electronic device that can quickly perform calculations and make logical judgments. It receives, stores, processes, and retrieves data as needed. It also processes data in accordance with a set of instructions. Thus, it is referred to as a data processor.

The different sections of CPU and their roles are:

Control Unit:

  • The CU performs a number of tasks, including fetching, decoding, and executing instructions as well as sending control signals to hardware. Data is moved throughout the system with the help of Control Unit.

Arithmetic logic unit:

  • The ALU serves two primary purposes:
  • It carries out logical and mathematical operations (decisions). Decisions are made and calculations are performed in the ALU.
  • Between primary memory and secondary storage, it serves as a bridge. The ALU receives and processes any data that is sent between them.
