Computer networking is the engineering discipline concerned with the communication between computer systems or devices. A computer network is any set of computers or devices connected to each other with the ability to exchange data. It is sometimes considered a sub-discipline of telecommunications, computer science, information technology and computer engineering since it relies heavily upon the theoretical and practical application of these scientific and engineering disciplines. There are three types of networks namely: Internet, intranet, and extranet.

NETWORKING CLASSIFICATIONS
The following list presents categories used for classifying networks.
Computer networks can be classified according to the hardware and software technology that is used to interconnect the individual devices in the network, such as optical fiber,Ethernet, Wireless LAN, etc.
• Ethernet uses physical wiring to connect devices. Frequently deployed devices include hubs, switches, bridges and routers. 
• Wireless LAN technology is designed to connect devices without wiring. These devices use radio waves or infrared signals as a transmission medium. 
• ITU-T G.hn technology uses existing home wiring (coaxial cable, phone lines andpower lines) to create a high-speed (up to 1 GB) local area network.
TYPE OF NETWORKING
There are many types of computer networking, i.e PAN(Personal area network), LAN (local area network), WAN(wide area network), HAN(home area network) and many more. In this case however, I will only discuss about LAN and WAN, because these two types of computer networking are the ones that are focus on for the connection.
