  • GH = 5 m.
  • HA = 5 m.
  • HC = 11 m.
  • AX = 4 m.
  • FY = 4 m.

TO FIND :-

  • The area enclosed by the octagonal figure.

SOLUTION :-

➠ Area (octagon) = Area (Trapezium ABCH ) + Area (Trapezium DEFG) + Area (Rectangle CDGH)

➠ Area (octagon) = 1/2 (AB + HC) × AX + 1/2 (DG + EF) × FY + (CH × CD)

➠ Area (octagon) = 1/2 (11 + 5) × 4 + 1/2 (11 + 5) × 4 + (11 × 5)

➠ Area (octagon) = 1/2 × 16 × 4 + 55 + 1/2 × 16 × 4

➠ Area (octagon) = 16 × 2 + 55 + 16 × 2

➠ Area (octagon) = 32 + 55 + 32

➠ Area (octagon) = 64 + 55

➠ Area (octagon) = 119 m²

Hence the area enclosed by the octagonal figure is 119 .
