Consider the velocity time graph of an object that moves under uniform acceleration.

Let 's' the distance travelled by a body.

Therefore,From the graph distance travelled (s)= area of a Trapezium OABC = area of the rectangle OADC=area of the triangle ABD.

In the above graph OA=CD=u and BC=v.

We know that acceleration(a)= change in velocity by time.

a=BD/t

BD=at

Therefore, s=area of trapezium OABC= area of rectangle OADC+ area of triangle ABD.

=OC×OA×1/2+AD×BD

=t×u×1/2×t×at

s=ut+1/2at^2

HENCE,DERIVED.
