(a+b)^2=a^2+b^2+2ab

(a+b)^2=145+2×72

(a+b)^2=145+144

(a+b)^2=289

a+b=root 289

a+b=17

We know that,


(a + b) {}^{2} = a {}^{2} + 2ab + b {}^{2} \\ \\ = > (a + b) {}^{2} = (a {}^{2} + b {}^{2} ) + 2ab \\ \\ = > a + b = \sqrt{(a {}^{2} + b {}^{2}) + 2 ab} \\ \\ = > a + b = \sqrt{145 + 2 \times 72} \\ \\ = > a + b = \sqrt{145 + 144} \\ \\ = > a + b = \sqrt{289} \\ \\ = > a + b = 17
