Let : a = √2 + 1 and b = √2 - 1.

We know that Arithmetic mean of two numbers is A = (a + b)/2.

⇒ (√2 + 1 + √2 - 1)/2

⇒ (2√2)/2

⇒ √2.

Therefore, Arithmetic mean of √2 + 1 and √2 - 1 is : √2.

Hope it helps!
