Coal and petroleum are two very important fossil fuels and are non renewable in nature as they require a large amount of time to be made

They are formed by the accumulation of dead living matter deep in the earth surface which due to the action of earth heat results in the formation of these fuels

Coal is a solid and petroleum is a viscous black foul smelling fluid

Its uses are

Coals used in households and industries

Petroleum used as fuels in vehicles and also as LPGs

Burning of these fuels emits CO2 gas increasing the green house effect

Also their incomplete combustion emits CO which is harmful for the environment
