fine Sunday afternoon, my mother decided to take me to a shopping complex to buy my birthday present. I was in high spirits and flashed a megawatt smile. The shopping complex was packed like sardines. People were pushing and shouting through the crowd as there was a big year-end bazaar. Both of us made our way through the crowd and entered the toys department.

In the toys department, there was a variety of toys to choose from. There were toy cars, model airplanes, toy trains, teddy bears and many more. I decided to buy my favourite Nerf gun, “Maverick’’, as my birthday present. My mother agreed with my choice and I was exhilarated.

When my mother was making a beeline to the snake-like queue to make the payment, I heard a weeping sound. Being curious, I went over to investigate. To my surprise, I saw a girl sitting at a corner crying buckets of tears. I asked her gently, “Are you lost?” Between sniffs, the girl replied, “Yes.” I decided to lend her a helping hand to find her parents. I consoled her and told her not to be afraid. After a while, the girl stopped crying.

My mother and I took the girl to the information counter. My mother told the staff at the information counter to make a report about the lost girl. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have found a lost girl, aged five, named Sally. Can her mother come over to the information counter?” the staff’s voice boomed over the PA system.

Five minutes passed. Then ten. At last, a frantic-looking mother rushed towards Sally. She hugged Sally tightly and made a silent vow not to leave her daughter again. After that, she thanked us profusely. My mother and I then filed out of the shopping complex, hearts filled with happy emotions as we had done a good deed.
