Given :
Two resistances of 6Ω are connected in parallel across a battery of 2V (internal resistance r).
Current flow in the circuit = 0.5A
To Find :
Internal resistance of the cell.
Solution :
❖ First of all we need to calculate equivalent resistance of the circuit.
As per ohm's law current flow through conductor is directly proportional to the applied voltage
- V = I R
» V denotes voltage
» R denotes resistance
» I denotes current
By substituting the given values;
➙ 2 = 0.5 × R
➙ R = 2/0.5
➙ R = 4 Ω [Equivalent resistance]
♦ Two resistances of 6Ω are connected in parallel. Hence their equivalent will be 6/2 = 3Ω.
Finally 6Ω and r come in series.
Net equivalent resistance :
➙ R = 3 + r
➙ 4 = 3 + r
➙ r = 4 - 3
➙ r = 1 Ω
