a) substances used to determine acid or base by changing smell i.e. some substances changes their smell when the are placed in acid or basic solution by this property they used to determine acid and base by (change in odure). Ex. -Onion, vanilla .

iv) it does because dilution of acid is very exothermic reaction. if acid is added in water slowly then most of released energy consumed by water on other hand if water will be added in acid the explosion may occur and it will harm us.

v) base shows their basic nature in water. for this we add NH3 in water then it gives OH- ions by Reacting with water. hence ammonia is considered as base.
