It moves in two direction in East and in North , then if we join two end points it make an right triangle.

Total distance = Distance travelled in East + distance travelled in North

= 3 + 4
= 7 m

Applying Pythagoras theorem we get displacement

displacement = √[ (3)² + (4)²]
= √(9 + 16)
= √25
= 5m
