Please help me in the Questions l post of English book flamingo chapter-1 The last lesson.The questions in between it.

1. Franz was afraid to go to school that day because he had not prepared the test on participles in the least. Mr. M Hamel was a strict teacher. So he was scared of being embarrassed and punished by his teacher.

2. On his way to school Franz saw a crowd in the town hall in front of the bulletin-board. It was the place from where all their bad news had come — the lost battles, the draft, and the orders of the commanding officer.

3. Franz feared a scolding at school as he had not prepared his lesson on participles. Besides, the warm, bright weather, the chirping of birds and the sight of the marching Prussian soldiers also tempted him to stay away from school.

4. The French districts of Alsace and Lorraine had been taken over by the Prussians. Hence, the bulletin board displayed the news that an order had come from Berlin to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine.

5. When Franz entered class that day, he was expecting a scolding from M Hamel he spoke very kindly and asked him to sit. Franz also wondered at the presence of senior villagers occupying back benches of the class.

6. Usually, when Franz's school began in the morning, there would be a great bustle, which could be heard out in the street, the opening and closing of desks, lessons repeated in unison, very loud, with the students keeping their hands over their ears to understand better, and the teacher's great ruler.

7. Alphonse Daudet, some elderly people were occupying the back benches on the day of the last lesson as they were attending the French class as a mark of respect for their native language. They wanted to thank the French teacher, M.

8. The elderly people of the village occupied the back benches in the classroom on the day of the last lesson. They sat there, attending M Hamel's last lesson to pay their respect to their native language and country that was theirs no longer.
