as sides are equal in rectangle so x+y=30 and x-y=14
after solving these equations we get x=22 and y=8
after solving these equations we get x=22 and y=8

Since, the opposite sides of rectangle are equal.
A.T.Q.
x + y = 30 _(1)
x – y = 14 _(2)
______________
0 + 2y = 16
=> y = 16 / 2
=> y = 8
Substituting y = 8 in (2)
x – 8 = 14
=> x = 14 + 8
=> x = 22
Thus, the values of x and y are 22 and 8 respectively.
