yes because it takes 10 seconds for the rock to reach ground and only 4 second to move sideways

FlynnXD: It does not take 10 sec for it to fall.. 1m/s^2 is acceleration, not velocity.
garvkhandelwalpefris: ohh yes

Acceleration due to gravity =1m/s^2
So, since rock is undergoing freefall, we can use this appropriately altered law of motion:
h=0.5gt^2
putting in h=10m and g=1m/s^2;

10=0.5*1*t^2
So, t=sqrt(20) = 2sqrt5 which is around 4.47sec.
So, since astronaut can move in 4 seconds, he is saved by a bare 0.47sec.

Hence, *yes*, astronaut will be able to escape from being crushed by a space rock.
