Q. Why does passenger sitting in moving bus are pushed in forward direction when bus stops suddenly?

Ans. 1) When we are sitting in a moving bus then are whole body is also in motion along with moving bus.

2) When this bus stops then along with bus our lower party of body (legs) come to rest but our upper part of body due to inertia of motion resist any change and keep moving forward.

3) Hence we feel to be pushed forward when moving bus stops suddenly.

Q. Why does boat move backward when sailor jumps in forward direction?

Ans. 1) According to Newton's third law of motion, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

2) When a sailor jumps in forward direction then he/she exerts a force on boat and as per law the boat also exerts an equal force but in opposite direction and hence boat moves backward.
