Answer:

step 1 find area of the hall

p = 140 m , L:B = 9:5 => L = 9x and B = 5 x

=> p = 2(L+B)

=> 140 = 2(9x + 5x)

=> 140/2 = 14x

=> 70 = 14x

=> x = 5

therefore L = 9x = 9×5 = 45 m

B = 5x = 5×5 = 25 m

Area of the hall = L×B=45×25 = 1125 sq m

now area of one tile = 25cm×20 cm

=> 0.25×0.2 = 0.05 sq m [to convert cm to metres, divide by 100]

therefore number of tiles required for the hall,

= area of hall/area of one tile

=> 1125/0.05

=> 22,500 tiles

now cost of 100 tiles = Rs 500

hence cost of one tile = 500/100 = Rs 5

total cost of laying tiles =

number of tiles× cost per tile

=>22500×5

=> Rs 1,12,500
