মরচে : সাধারণ লোহাকে আদ্র বাতাসে রেখে দিলে কিছুদিন পরে লোহার গায়ে লালচে-বাদামি বর্ণের আস্তরণ পড়ে । এই পাতলা বাদামী বর্ণের আস্তরণকে মরেচে বলে ।
