Answer:

1. C

2. B

3. D

4. A

Explanation:

1. The passage is a biography about Nick as this tells how he struggled with his inabilities of life and got upto  a degree with all his courage. This not an essay as an essay is based on a certain topic while narratives are based on an imaginative topic or sentence. It can't be story as this passage doesnot have the minimum requirements for a story.

2. As a differently abled student, Nick sees his whole life as pond of sadness. the writer of the passage has used literature skills to express the situation of Nick's. So cold and bitter could mean shiverring when we take it over the normal English, but when we consider it with Nick's situation the words carry weight of his sadness of moments.

3. It is most probably due to been bullied and teased as the structuring of the passage shows the rest of the answers away from his feeling, 'depressed'.

4. Due to the word but in the sentence, the only possible answer is the decision of sending him to school.
