Newton's universal law of gravitation states that when two body are separated by a distance r, then both attract each other with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses (m1and m 2 ) and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them (r). This force is termed as gravitational force.

Mathematically, gravitation force is given by

F= Gm1m2/r²

where G is gravitational constant.
