Let the given points be A(9,a),B(6,7),C(2,3).

x1 = 9,x2 = 6,x3 = 2,y1 = a,y2 = 7,y3 = 3.

Given that the area of triangle = 10.

We know that area of triangle = 1/2(x1(y2 - y3) + x2(y3 - y1) + x3(y1 - y2))

10 = 1/2(9(7 - 3) + 6(3 - a) + 2(a - 7)

20 = 9(4) + 18 - 6a + 2a - 14

20 = 36 + 18 - 6a + 2a - 14

20 = 36 + 14 - 4a

20 = 40 - 4a

20 - 40 = -4a

-20 = -4a

a = 5.

Therefore the value of a = 5.

Hope this helps!
