Answer:

3) Let x = 1 and y = 4

4x - ky = 5 ------(1)

Substituting values of x and y in equation (1)

4(1) - k(4) = 5

4 - 4k = 5

-4k = 5 - 4

-4k = 1

k = -1/4

4) Let x = 4 and y = 5

4x - 5y = 12

4(4) - 5(5) = 12

16 - 25 = 12

-9 ≠ 12

Therefore they are not the zeroes.

Step-by-step explanation:

3)

4x-ky=5 and (1,4) is solution then put x=1 and y=4

4(1)-k(4)=5

4k=4-5=-1

therefore k=-1/4

4)

put x=4 and y=5 in eqn

4(4)-5(5)-12=16-25-12=-21 not equal to zero so it is not a solution.
