1. They are asking how do these two elements bond (you must use the cross bonding method)

a) The valency of carbon is 4 and the valency of carbon is 1

look at the first attachment ( I did all these in paint)

b) Valency of Mg is 2 and valency of Cl is 1 (look at the second attachment)

iii) a) look at the 3rd attachment

b) look at the fourth attachment

Differences:

i) CCl₄ is covalent in nature and MgCl₂

ii) CCl₄ is insoluble in water, but MgCl₂ is soluble in water

4. Lithium flouride formula= LiF

look at the 5th attachment

LiF is ionic in nature
