Some Plants which are eatable like radish, Carrot, Sweet Potato, Potato have swollen rootd. These rootd can store food produced by plants. Plantd use this food when needed. We also eat this as food.

MECHANICAL SUPOORT :-

In some trees like banyan tree rope like roota grow from the main branches. These roots on reaching thr ground penetrate into it and give support to heavy branches. These roots are so called PROP ROOTS . Plants like maize sugarcane have thin stems which is very long. To remain standing erect such stems need some additional support .
