Here is your answer
In some states, there is concern for the welfare of animals and attempts are being made to help strays. But in my hometown, stray animals are being killed with impunity even in the presence of children.
The media recently reported an event where members of the Selangor royal family, including the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, launched the “Stray Free Selangor (SFS) – The Humane and Compassionate Way” campaign. It was reported that the aim of the campaign was to educate the public on humane and compassionate ways to treat stray animals and to encourage people to spay or neuter strays and provide shelter for them.
But, alas, in my hometown, Muar, stray dogs are being killed with blatant disregard for the animal and the feelings of residents, including children.
In the incident I saw, stray dogs were caught with nets and given a fatal injection right in front of shocked young children and women. And the killers seemed to be proud of what they were doing!
Are we teaching our children that killing animals is a game and a sport to be proud of? Even my wife threw up when she saw this despicable act of cruelty and took a few days to recover from the trauma. She knew those strays were loving and harmless and had never hurt a single resident in our housing estate. If the killing can affect an adult like this, what about young children
