Solution :

Case I :

• Mass = 3 kg

• Acceleration = 5 m/s²

From Newton's 2nd Law of Motion :

★ Force = Mass × Acceleration

→ F = 3 × 5

F = 15 Newtons

Case II :

• Mass = 4 kg

• Acceleration = 4 m/s²

From Newton's 2nd Law of Motion :

★ Force = Mass × Acceleration

→ F = 4 × 4

F = 16 Newtons

\therefore Force required is greater for 4 kg mass at 4 m/s², Option d)

Given:-

Object A:-

  • Mass (m) = 3 kg
  • Acceleration (a) = 5 m/s²

Object B:-

  • Mass (m) = 4 kg
  • Acceleration (a) = 4 m/s²

Finding Force required for both the cases:-

We know,

F = ma

where,

  • F = Force,
  • m, a = Mass and acceleration respectively.

For object A:-

F = (3 kg)(5 m/s²)

→ F = 15 kg m/s²

F = 15 N

∴ Required force to make object A in an acceleration of 5 m/s² is 15 N.

For object B:-

F = (4 kg)(4 m/s²)

→ F = 16 kg m/s²

F = 16 N

∴ Required force to make object B in an acceleration of 4 m/s² is 16 N.

Observation: Force required to make object A is lesser than that of required in B.

Thus,

(d) greater for 4 kg mass at 4 m/s²
