Answer:

Explanation:

1)A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture.

• The size of particles of a colloid is too small to be individually

seen by naked eyes.

• The particle size is in between 1nm to 1000nm.

• Colloidal solution exhibits Tyndall effect.

• The particles of a colloidal solution are big enough to scatter a

beam of light passing through it and make its path visible.

• Colloidal particles exhibit zig- zag movement. This motion is

called Brownian motion.

• They do not settle down when left undisturbed. Ie, a colloid is

quite stable.

• Colloidal particles cannot be separated by the process of filtration.

A special technique of separation known as centrifugation, can be

used to separate the colloidal particles.

2) Properties of Solid State of matter :-

a. Particles are tightly packed.

b. They have a fixed shape and a fixed volume.

c. They are incompressible because intermolecular space is very less.

d. They have high densities, rigid and fixed boundaries.

e. Solids do not fill their container completely.

f. Solids do not flow (mobility is very low).

g. Rate of diffusion is very low.

h. Strong force of attraction between the particles.

i. Eg:- Iron, wood, coal, brick etc.
