The raw materials of photosynthesis are water and CO2. Water and carbon dioxide in the presence of light, enter the cells of the leaf, where, in the presence of chlorophyll, photosynthesis takes place and sugar and oxygen are produced.
The product of photosynthesis is sugar (C6H12O6), and its byproduct is Oxygen. Both of these are used by the plants cellular mitochondria during it's respiration process.
For photosynthesis green plants take carbon dioxide from the air. The carbon dioxide enters the leaves of the plant through the stomata present on their surface. Each stomatal pore is surrounded by a pair of guard cells. The opening and closing of the pores of stomata is controlled by the guard cells only.
