Let the two numbers be X and 2x( as 1 number is twice the other)
Therefore, sum of them is 18
i.e X+2x=18
3x=18
X=18/3
X=6
the numbers are 6 and 12
hope this helps

let two no. be a and b
then sum of two no. a+b = 18
a is twice to b , a = 2b
put the value of a in equ. (1)
2b + b =18
3b = 18
b = 6
then a = 2x6 = 12
