0.2 x + 0.3 y = 1.3 ...(i)

0.4 x + 0.5 y = 2.3 ...(ii)

From (i): 0.3 y = 1.3 - 0.2 x.... (iii)  [0.2 x was subtracted from both ends]

y = [1.3 - 0.2 x]/0.3 ..... (a)

Substitute the value of y in eq.(a) in place of 'y' in eq. (ii)

0.4 x + 0.5*[1.3 - 0.2 x]/0.3 = 2.3

Taking LCM in L.H.S=== LCM = 0.3

0.4 x * 0.3/0.3 + 0.5*[1.3 - 0.2 x]/0.3 = 2.3

[0.12 x + 0.65 - 0.1 x ] / 0.3 = 2.3

0.02 x + 0.65 = 2.3*0.3

0.02 x = 0.69 - 0.65

0.02 x = 0.04

x = 0.04/0.02 = 2

Substitute this value of 'x' in any equation to find 'y' value

Here lets take eq. (a)

y = [1.3 - 0.2 x]/0.3 = [1.3 - 0.2*2]/0.3 = [1.3 - 0.4]/0.3 = 0.9/0.3 = 3

Hence,

x = 2   &&    y = 3
