we have the formula here C6H14

hence we can use these sticks in 4 different ways as hexane have 4 isomers.

A) To find the number of isomers of a carbon compound the formula is simple.
The formula is Number of carbon atoms in the chain - 2.

For E.g Take pentane
Number of carbon atoms in the chain is 5. So to find the number of isomers
 5 -2= 3 isomers

Therefore for 6 carbon atoms there are 6 - 2 = 4 isomers
