For the Triangle ABC, By using Basic Proportionality Theorem,

DE is parallel to BC.

 \frac{AD}{DB} =\frac{AE}{EC}

AC=18 </p><p>AC=AE+EC=18

Consider AE=x

EC=18-x

Thus

 \frac{AD}{DB} =\frac{AE}{EC}  implies  \frac{2}{3} =\frac{x}{18-x} <br />Now Cross multiplying, we get<br />2(18-x)=3x<br />36-2x=3x<br />36=3x+2x<br />36=5x<br />36/5=x

Thus AE=36/5
