Australia had beaten West Indies in their last group match, thus enabling Pakistan to reach semi-finals of the World Cup Cricket 1992. This match was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne on 18th March 1992.

In this match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Australia scored 216 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. David Boon scored a magnificent century from the Australian side. In reply, West Indies team was all out for 159 runs in 42.4 overs. West Indies lost the match to Australia by 57 runs.
