Answer:

30 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Time taken by 20 carpentered to make 40 chairs= 60 days

Now, we know that if 20 carpenters take 60 days to make 40 chairs, they will take lesser time to make 1 chair. Thus, we divide 60 by 40.

Time taken by 20 carpenters to make 1 chair=  60/40= 3/2 days

Now, we know that if 20 carpenters take 3/2  days to make 1 chair, 1 carpenter will obviously take more time. Since, he/she is doing the work on their own and alone. Thus, we multiply the days taken by 20 carpenters to make 1 chair by 20.

Time taken by 1 carpenter to make 1 chair= 3/2*20=30 days

Now, we know if 1 carpenter takes 30 days to make 1 chair, he/she will take 10*that time to make 10 chairs. Thus, we multiply 30 by 10.

Time taken by 1 carpenter to make 10 chairs = 30*10 = 300 days

Now, we know that if 1 carpenter takes 300 days to make 10 chairs, 10 carpenters will obviously take lesser time to make 10 chairs. Thus, we divide 300 by 10.

Therefore, time taken by 10 carpenters to make 10 chairs = 300/10 = 30 days.
