step.2) multiply the denominators to make them same. In turn multiply the numerator too. -5/6 , 1/-3 x 2= -5/6 to be compared with 2/-6.

step.3) In rational numbers we learnt to take the negative sign up. -2/6.

Step.4) Compare. As the denominators are same we ca now compare the numerators. -5 < -2. In integers the smaller negative number is always grater than the large negative number. So -5 is less then -2.
