5. n= 100

Median is the mean of 100/2 th and 100/2+1 th observations ,i.e , ,50 th and 51 th observations .

Median= 420+320/2

= 370

4. n = 80

Median is the mean of 80/2 th and 80/2+1 th observations ,i.e , ,50 th and 51 th observations .

Median = 153+154/2

= 153.5

3.Mean of 5 numbers=18

Total = 18*5 = 90

By excluding one number, the mean of remaining 5-1=4 numbers =16

Total = 16*4 = 64

Excluded number=90-64=26

2.

∑f i =120

∴ we have 120=68+f1 + f2

f1+f2 = 52 ......1

mean = mean = ∑fixi

------

∑fi

50 = 3480 + 30 f1 +70 f2 / 120

30 f1+70f2 = 6000- 3460 = 2520

3 f 1 + 7 f 2 = 252 ....2

Eq(1) ×7 = 7 f 2 + 7 f1

= 7× 542 = 364

Eq (2) 3 f1+ 7 f 2

Subtract them

4f1= 112

f 1 =28 from 1

f2 =52 −f1

=52- 28

=f2 = 24
