equations is said to be consistent if it is not inconsistent

We know the condition of inconsistent ( or parallel equation )

a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2

Therefore

a1/a2 = b1/b2

k/-1 = 6/-2

- k = - 3

k = 3

it is for to be inconsistent

For to be consistent

k take any real value other than 3

Hence k ≠ 3
