According to me the slogan given by
Congress Party that was led by Indira
Gandhi in the year 1971 was "Garibi Hatao".This slogan was given during loksabha elections.
Poverty has always been a big issue that all the government's aim to eradicate but not much skyshattering has been done to this issue.It may take some more time even in 2017 to eradicate poverty.Main reason being widespread corruption.Once we eradicate ccorruption, poverty will automatically eradicate.

This was the slogan and theme of the Congress party led by Indira Gandhi in the Lok Sabha election in 1971. Later it was also used by Rajiv Gandhi. Anti-poverty programs were created through garibi hatao. They were funded, supervised and carried out locally by the Congress party officials and the Government officials in New Delhi.
