hi
a) given,
force of engine= 40,000
force of friction=5,000
so,
net accelerating force, F= force of engine - force of friction ( we know that friction will work in a direction opposite to the force of engine
40000-5000
35000N
(b)net force exerted by the engine= 35000N
the mass of 1 wargons of train = 2000kg
the mass of 5 wargons of train= 2000×5=1000kg
in other words, the mass of whole train is 10000kg
we know that ,
net force= mass of train × acceleration F= m×a
35000=10000×a
a= 35000/1000m/s^2
a= 3.5m/s^2
therefore,the acceleration of the train is 3.5m/s^2
(c)there are total 5 wargons behind the engine ( which have been marked 1,2,3,4 and 5 in the figure ) and there are only 4 waggons behind waggon 1
force of waggon 1= mass of 4 wargons × acceleration of train
2000× 4×3.5 ( we know that weight of one waggon is 2000 kg)
28000 N
thus , the force of waggon 1waggon 2 is 28000N
