Answer:

Median = 35.86

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

A grouped data

To find :-

Find the Median of the data ?

Solution :-

See the above attachment

We have,

N = 80

=> N/2 = 80/2 = 40

Modal Class = 35-45

Lower boundary of the median class (l) = 35

Cumulative frequency of the class preceding the median class (cf) = 38

Frequency of the median class (f) = 23

size of the class (h) = 10

We know that

Median of the grouped data (M)

= l +[{(n/2)-cf}/f] × h

On substituting these values in the above formula

=> M = 35+[{40-38}/23]×10

=> M = 35+(2/23)×10

=> M = 35+[(2×10)/23]

=> M = 35+(20/23)

=> M = 35+0.86

=> M = 35.86

Answer:-

The Median for the given data is 35.86

Used formulae:-

  • Median of the grouped data (M)

= l +[{(n/2)-cf}/f] × h

  • l = Lower boundary of the median class
  • cf = Cumulative frequency of the class preceding the median class
  • f = Frequency of the median class
  • h= size of the class
