Explanation:

(i) Equivalent resistance of 10 ohm and 40 ohm resistances is R1 given as ,

1/R1 = 1/10 + 1/40 = 5/40

R1 = 8 ohm.

Equivalent resistance of 30 ohm, 20 ohm and 60 ohm resistances is R2, given as,

1/R2 = 1/30+ 1/20+1/60 = 6/60

R2 = 10 ohm.

Since R1 and R2 are connected in series.

Therefore,Total resistance in the circuit is

R=R1+R2=8+10=18 ohm.

(ii) Total current flowing in the circuit , I = V/R = 12/18= 0.67 A (Ampere).
