Case 1:

no of men = 11

amount of work = 27/4

no of days = 1

Case 2:

no of men = ?

amount of work = 27

no of days = 1

We have to apply the formula: (m*d*h)/w; m = men, d=days, h=hours, w=work

(11 * 1) / 27/4 = (x * 1) / 27

or, 44/27 = x/27.

or, x = 44

Therefore, we need 44 men to dig 27m long trench in one day.

This question can be solved by the unitary method.

In order to how many men digs 27 m long stretch, we need to solve 27 x 11 / 7.

The answer will come close to 49. 5 men which can be considered as 50 men.

So the answer to  many many men can dig 27 m stretch is 50 min.
