Concept :-

Here, we are given with two fractions to divide. As we know that, we should take the reciprocal of second fraction and multiply both the fractions, based on this rule we should solve the given problems. There's an other rule that, always the mixed fractions should be written as improper fractions and whole numbers as fractions while solving.

\:

Formula required :-

{\large \tt \dashrightarrow \orange{\boxed{\tt \gray{\dfrac{a}{b} \div \dfrac{c}{d} = \dfrac{a}{b} \times \dfrac{d}{c}}}}}

\:

Solution (1) :-

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{4}{9} \div \dfrac{2}{3}}

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{4}{9} \times \dfrac{3}{2} = \dfrac{4 \times 3}{9 \times 2}}

{\tt \leadsto \cancel \dfrac{12}{18} = \dfrac{2}{3}}

\:

Solution (2) :-

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{4}{11} \div \dfrac{8}{11}}

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{4}{11} \times \dfrac{11}{8} = \dfrac{4 \times 11}{11 \times 8}}

{\tt \leadsto \cancel \dfrac{44}{88} = \dfrac{1}{2}}

\:

Solution (3) :-

{\tt \leadsto 2 \dfrac{1}{3} \div \dfrac{3}{5}}

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{7}{3} \times \dfrac{3}{5} = \dfrac{7 \times 3}{3 \times 5}}

{\tt \leadsto \cancel \dfrac{21}{15} = 1 \dfrac{2}{5}}

\:

Solution (4) :-

{\tt \leadsto 5 \dfrac{4}{7} \div 1 \dfrac{3}{10}}

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{39}{7} \times \dfrac{13}{10} = \dfrac{39 \times 13}{7 \times 10}}

{\tt \leadsto \dfrac{507}{70}}

More to know :-

  • While adding or subtracting the fractions, if they are unlike fractions convert them into like fractions to add or subtract them. We can convert them to like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators.
  • While dividing the fractions, take the reciprocal of the second fraction and multiply both the fractions.
