ANSWER:-

GIVEN:

__________

In the above figure (p,q) is a point on x -axis and equidistant from (1,2) and (2,3).

TO FIND:

____________

co - ordinates of (p,q)

SOLUTION:

_______________

As per the question (p,q) are the points on x- axis .so q must be 0 because y co -ordinate is 0 on x- axis.

AB=BC (applying the distance formula)

=>[(p-1)^2+(q-2)^2]=[(p-2)^2+(q-3)^2]

=>p^2+1-2p+4=p^2+4+9-4p (putting the value of q)

=>4p-2p=9-1

=>2p=8

=>p=8/2=4

so p=4 and q=0

option b is correct in the first question.
