1) The Piedmont Platinum which this soil is common:-

Most alluvial soils are derived from the sediment being deposited by the river Ganga in the Indo–Gangetic plain, ranging from Punjab in the west to West Bengal and Assam in the east, as well as in the coastal areas of northern parts of Gujarat, Narmada, and Tapi valleys, which are formed by sea waves.

2) Division on the basis of age:-

a) The old alluvial soil is called Bhangar. Soil is coarse in texture.

b) The new alluvial soil is called Khadar. Soil is finer in texture.

3) Soil nutrients:-

Alluvial soil is rich in minerals and nutrients -- highly fertile, and a good crop soil. It often contains gravel, sand and silt. The chemical content of the soil will depend on where it is located. The topography of the land will influence what runs off into the river that eventually forms the alluvial soil.
