Answer:

Let the whole property is x

He gave \cfrac{1}{5} of whole to his first son, i.e., \cfrac{1}{5} x

So, he left with x-\cfrac{1}{5} x = \cfrac{4}{5} x

He gave \cfrac{1}{3} \text { of } \cfrac{4}{5} x to his second son, i.e.,

He gave \cfrac{4}{15}x to his second son.

So, he left with \cfrac{4}{5}x - \cfrac{4}{15}x = \cfrac{8}{15}x

He gave \cfrac{3}{8} \text { of } \cfrac{8}{15}x to his third son, i.e.,

He gave \cfrac{3}{15}x to his third son.

Now, he left with \cfrac{8}{15}x - \cfrac{3}{15}x = \cfrac{1}{3}x which he gave to his wife.

Its given that he gave Rs. 1200 to his wife.

So, \cfrac{1}{3}x = 1200

\Rightarrow x = 3600

Thus, his whole property is Rs. 3600.

He gave to his first son = Rs. 720

He gave to his second son = Rs. 960

He gave to his third son = Rs. 720

He gave to his wife = Rs. 1200
