8x + 3y = 11 -  -  -  -  - (1) \\ 3x - y = 2 -  -  -  -  - (2) \\ expressing \:  \: y \:  \: in \: terms \: of \:  \\ x \: of \: equation \: (2) \: we \: get \\ y =  2  +  3x -  -  -  -  - (3) \\ substituting \: (3) \: in \: (1) \\  17x = 11 - 6 \\ 17x = 5 \\ x =  \frac{5}{17}  \\ substituting \: the \: value \: of \: x \: in \: (2) \\ 3( \frac{5}{17} ) - y = 2   \\ y =  -  \frac{19}{17}
