Ade and edf are linear pair of angles. Their sim must be equal to 180° add both the angles u will get x=10° hence angle edf =30° then u can seeabc & edf are equal verically opposite angles. Hence both the lines are parallel.

ABC=30°
EDF=40-X °
ADE=13X+20 °

SO,(13X+20)+(40 - X)=180
 or,12x+60=180
 or,12x=180-60=120
 ∴x=120/12=10

  so,EDF=40-10=30
       ADE=13*10+20=150
 ∴ABC=EDF=30°

That's why  BC║DE
