So, When we add these number

x+x-1=15

2x-1=15

2x=15+1

let the greater number be x

smaller number be x-1  

x + x - 1 = 15

2x - 1 = 15

2x = 15 + 1  

2x = 16

x = \frac{16}{2}

x = 8

smaller number =  8 - 1

                          = 7.
