According to the question,

The mass of the solute = ?

The mass of the solvent = 80 g

Mass of a solution = Mass of solute + Mass of solvent

Mass of a solution (x) = x × 20/100 + 80

x = (20x + 8000)/100

100x = 20x + 8000

100x - 20x = 8000

80x = 8000

x = 8000/80

x = 100 g

Mass of a solution (x) = 100 g

Now,

Mass of solute = 20 % of mass of solution

Mass of a solute = 20/100 × 100

Mass of a solute = 20 g
